We function under the guidance of Mr.Lanka Ravi who is FIDE Lecturer,Sr.World Chess Federation Trainer, Indian Senior Team Coach, International Master & Fide Arbiter.
What makes a good chess player? Talent? Hard work? Stamina? Perseverance? Preparation? And many more questions arise. Well, there is no clear answer .Probably a mixture of all makes a great chess player. So now we can understand the importance of Cyber Chess and its functioning. In the recent camp the students immensely profited by the fantastic schedule of work developed by Cyber Chess Team.
Starting from morning 5.30 am till evening 8 pm all the students were in not only Chess activity but also Jogging, Yoga, Psychology classes to keep them active throughout.
The Chess classes started at 9.30 am till evening 6 pm ( with breaks in between for lunch and relaxations) and from 6-8 pm they had practice session, as we all know how important it is to play on the board is!
Regarding Chess lessons most things are not to be made available for all here in site. The name of the camp was “Essentials in Chess”! So we get some idea of it. I had 10 classes where each day I discussed some opening systems, how they were developed and the essential knowledge required to understand them. I cannot disclose what exactly we discussed (for that you have to attend the next camp!!) But it is some knowledge in some structures which are essential for every chess player.
Lectures were also given on the essential ideas of middle game, how the game after the opening part has to be played, and planning, deploying forces and when a successful attack can be made! Students cherished the new concepts that they have learned.
And finally even one mistake can be fatal is in the endgame! The students enriched their knowledge. mainly when there are very few pieces left, along with that of course some of the must be known positions which we all know but tend to forget!!
After everything we discussed with all students what are the problems they are facing while playing tourneys and tried to help them.
The students had some blitz tournaments as recreation! Which they enjoyed very much. I had some plans of making a problem solving competition but never really get enough time! Winners of the Tournament were presented beautiful Hyderabad Pearl sets which were sponsored by Mangatrai Jewellers as an encouragement to participants and were received from the hands of Grand Master Sandipan Chanda.
All in all, a nice, healthy atmosphere was there with loads of chess activities and lots of fun. Trainees had very nice time when all visited monuments of Hyderabad. On the rest day of the Camp they had city tour to Golkonda, NTR gardens where all enjoyed the rides on Columbus, Tora torra etc., Special cuisine of Hyderabad made them to have delicious dinner on the Closing day. Two young super Grand Masters of India made their presence on Opening day and Closing day. GM P.Hari Krishna stood as an inspiration to the students in the Opening ceremony of “Essentials of Chess”, sharing his experience in various training camp and suggesting them what all should be observed while attending a training camp.
we the coaches enjoyed the camp as well as the students! (Only relief was that for me waking up at 5 am was not necessary!)
So thanks to the effort of cyber chess we all had a great time there. I hope in future also there will be many such camps to guide the young brains of our country. If you think you are one of them get ready for the next camp!!!! We will be back soon…
