Five players have scored four points each, in as many rounds of the NMDC All India Fide Rated Chess Tournament , organised by Cyber Chess Academy at Suchithra Academy, here, today. Four more players are following the leaders with 3.5 points each. In a Sicilian defence game, Asian Under 18 champion Debashis Das of Orissa played a patient game to win in 42 moves against Praveen Prasad of Hyderabad. IM V Koshy of ONGC employed Pirc defence against former Asian under 16 champion K Priyadharshan of TN. The game slowly drifted away from Koshy, as he lost two valuable pawns and the game ended in favour of Priyadharshan after 51 moves.
In another Sicilian defence game between thirteen year old national under 19 champion Aravindh Chithambaram of TN and former national champion P Konguvel of ONGC, both could not gain supremacy and agreed to split the point after 42 moves. Hyderabad youngster K Praneeth Surya was forced to give up his queen for a rook against national under 25 champion Rahul Sangma of Railways. The rest was routine for Rahul to pocket a point. Experienced T Purushothaman of AP, who met with a minor accident on his way to the tournament hall played with bandages and lost to N Krishna Teja, another youngster from Hyderabad in just 16 moves.

All the five international masters had a smooth sailing in the first round of the NMDC Fide rated chess tournament, organised by Cyber Chess Academy at Suchithra Academy, here at Hyderabad.

In the ten round Swiss system, wherein 118 players from ten states are participating, the top seed Debashis Das of Orissa had an easy outing against Nihar L Akula of AP. Second seeded IM K Priyadharshan of Tamil Nadu subdued G Dheeraj of AP in no time and former national champion P. Konguvel of ONGC met with little resistance from JC Karthik of the host state. Earlier Shri Pankaj Dwivedi, chief secretary of government of AP inaugurated the tournament in the presence of Shri Hari Narayanan of NMDC and Shri Praveen Raju of Suchithra Academy.

Sai Siddartha and Ankitha Goud win Boys and Girls Zugmongers Chess Tournament

9 year old A.Sai Siddartha won the Zugmongers Chess Tournament with hundred percent score out of possible five rounds. D.Srikanth emerged runner up with four points. He was followed by A.Prateek with three points.
 
In the Girls section Anikatha Goud won the first place with Four points.She was followed by B Haritha who scored 3 1/2 points. Third place went to Sree Rohitha who scored 2 points.

Special prizes were also given to players who are under 10 years of age.
 
In this U-10 Boys Gold Medal went to Kaushal Labba
U-8 Boys is won by Ritvik Raja
And U-6 Gold Medal went to Ruthvik Reddy.
 
In the Girls section Gayatri Milind Khadke won the Gold Medal in U-10 group with 2 points and M.Sai Akhila won the U-8 Gold Medal.
 
In the Classic Tournament section S Khan stood First on 5 points with a win over Kandi Ravi in the Final Round. G Srinivas was adjudged Second on 4-1/2 points and Kandi Ravi secured the Third place on 4 points.

Cyber Chess Classic Tournament

As many as 18 rated players are participating in the Cyber Chess Classic Tournament, being one of the most sought after tournament in the Twin Cities for the budding young players to gain valuable tournament experience making it a good practice ground for the improvement of their skills. So far 2-rounds are finished and noted players like Kandi Ravi, G Srinivas, S Khan and Koganti Ashlesh are vying for the Top honours. 

 

The Zugmongers Chess Tournament will start on Sunday 8th morning at  10am.
